Ya probably the first "off the record" lick I ever learned (normally my intro's are my own versions ). But for the gigs I played, I didn't have to announce the song just start playing the lick and most of the audience instantly knew what song it was. And sometimes it would get approval clapping ......

I've talked about using virtual instruments for orchestral instrument scoring from time to time, but I don't know if I've ever presented an example of that to the AGF, and when I do present things here it tends to be work from my Parlando Project which is focused on areas that don't necessarily have broad appeal/interest (that's even sort of it's point).

Halfway through this rendition, which was a live performance consisting of guitar, vocal and a soft keyboard part, I bring in a fairly full orchestra section with a violin melody all of which I composed and recorded later. My orchestrations tend to be simple musically (I sometimes call it "punk-rock orchestral" because of that simplicity) but I think this one worked out well.

There's at least two typos in the text in the video. I blame bad eyesight and the late night effort to make a video out of it.

I missed this one when you posted it Frank - we'd been traveling that weekend and I was sick as a dog that day, so probably missed a few days of the forum. I really like that arrangement a lot. I love that tune and have tried playing it myself a few times, but to say I don't do it well enough to ever want anyone else to hear it would be a gross understatement. I really dug your version of it, though. Well done!

Thanks for the kind words there Ray. It's been harder this year to do the orchestral instrument arrangements, so I was happy to be able to get that one done this summer.

I've been messing around with some of Dylan's blues tunes recently. Recorded a few, most not suitable for public consumption. But I kind of like this one, from Time Out Of Mind, my favorite of Dylan's later albums. Kind of hard to imagine even THAT album is 24 years old. Nothing special, but really fun to do... A mix of acoustic and electric. The basic rhythm is acoustic, but there's a second electric rhythm track (almost sounds like a harp), and the lead is definitely electric...
