Default NRD! New Recording King RR-50-VS

My new Recording King RR-50-VS arrived today. This is a mahogany guitar with a Spider resonator. I am loving the tone! I debated between this and the Gretsch and liked the fit, finish, and tone of the RK better. This isn't my video, but it gives you an idea of what it looks/sounds like...

Very nice! I like the warmth of this instrument when played with bare fingers as in the video.

This is just my opinion but I have to disagree with the positive review of this instrument. I recently bought one online purely based on reading good things about it. It's a beautiful instrument no doubt, although I'm not a big fan of gloss finish on an instrument and especially not on the neck. I felt like that detail definitely killed the smoothness and fast playing neck that I like to get from a resonator. The neck felt slow to me.
Now on to the volume. Tone is beautiful no doubt, very balanced and warm but I felt like it lacked the volume I like to get from a resonator. Even when you approach it with a lot of attack, it doesn't really respond much to the dynamics. Overall for the price and considering its their pro line, I returned it to the shop.
