I only went once, ten years ago, but it tipped my decision to move to the area.
Been here (~50 miles north of Warren Wilson) nine years now. Best move ever. Late night jams, "drinking from a firehose" information overload, good food, friendly people. Couldn't recommend it more.

As far as digital recorders go, is there any reason I can't use my cell phone for that?
