An old vinyl record album I have from 1971, John Sebastian's "Cheapo-Cheapo Productions Presents Real Live John Sebastian" includes some banter in between songs, and at one point he speaks of practicing in the bathroom because he liked the "organic" sound.

Around the same time, I had a bathroom large enough, and with tiled walls, so I gave it a try. Not for everybody, but certainly lends a different sound to one's playing...

To the topic at hand...I’m not sure how all you others take care of business but the only thing I touch, prior to The Final Act, is my belt buckle/button or whatever. My hands are in the same state sitting on the throne as they are any other time of day or night.

Prior to any sort of cleansing activity, the guitar is leaned against the wall. Then the first stop is to the sink. My guitar is safe and clean as ever.
Same here. I tried to explain that, but it fell on deaf ears.

Ya know Einstein was big into Gedunken experimenting (thought experiments), and he said that is how he came up with the theory of relativity. For all we know he was sitting on the pot in a quiet bathroom.

Every time you think a topic has hit bottom, someone will grab a shovel and start digging...

Horses for courses...but I think while you all are leaning on your shovels taking a break, I'll head out for some fresh air before hip boots are required... and I'll need a sharp stick to poke that Zappa pic out of my mind's eye...

Mmm yesss the unimaginative and overly conservative viewpoint of the (majority) agf populace made manifest in a single, masterful thread. Seems a good a place as any to say farewell ; )

I don't get people who spend an eternity in the bathroom. I only spend as much time as necessary. Now going in separately just for the acoustics? That's different. I just recorded an electric guitar amp in mine the other day.

It may have something to do with age.

I know one place I don't spend much time in: an outhouse. I was staying at a very remote fishing camp that only had outhouses. Yuk!

On a funny note when indoor bathrooms first made their debut, my wife had a relative that fought putting one in. He wanted to know why anyone would want that stink in their homes.

I used to do this. But I would sit and play for so long that I got a condition the required me to prepare with the letter H. So I had to quit playing on the john.
