How about your favorite Zeppelin album?

Any interesting Led Zeppelin stories from your youth?
I maybe an outlier here but even though I was a quintessential Boomer (born in 1950), and was enthralled with much of music, groups and individual artists, of the 60's -70's, I was just never a big LZ fan
So I would guess by default Stairway to Heaven (probably the most played) would be my pick

I am a HUGE Zep fan and have been since I first heard them in the early 70's. That said I could never pick a "favorite" tune but I can tell you that whenever Stairway comes on the radio it gets turned off. Why? Overplayed to death and though I have multiples of live versions I still just can't listen to that song anymore. At all.

Strike two!

But to be serious for a moment, I have this weird dislike and confusion about why Clapton is so revered. Probably because I grew up after those times and there were so many guitarists who took his influence and moved on. Anyway.

Just kidding Kev!

I have to agree with you having a "dislike" about why Clapton may be revered by others, is kinda "weird"

I also don't understand why some (perhaps not you ) seem to feel that recognition or acknowledgement, of the accomplishments of any one guitar icon, somehow lessens the accomplishments of any other guitar icon ...
Claptons fame takes nothing away from Page, Knopfler, Santana , Vaughn, or Hendrix,, et.al And can never understand why people want to rank them which is plain silly IMO

But perhaps this documentary might help clear some of your "confusion'

I can't do 52 mins of Clapton. JK, will take a look. I guess all I meant was that people calling him "God" always seemed odd to me, he's really good. But I guess not as innovative (to me) as Page, Hendrix, Van Halen, or even Santana. But to each their own, and people a lot smarter about music than I am hold these views, so I likely have plenty to learn.

I agree calling him God is just plain silly. In the doc, I think it is maybe Robert Cray says something like--- his playing is so clean and smooth yet still identifiable as Clapton. Then someone else says along the lines of ---he doesn't play a lot of fast note flurries , but every note he plays, counts .... In any case as you say, to each their own, cause different preferences make the musical world go round

But, That first album is always a hyper shot of nostalgia for me.
I couldn't agree more. We got the album after being out for a while, but hearing "Babe I'm Going To Leave You" made me pick up guitar and learn the whole song. What a great album!

Meh, I started shutting that song off sometime in the mid to late 70s.

Might as well add the last of the Big Three that were played over and over and over…

Stairway to Heaven, Free Bird, and Layla!

They call him "slowhand" for a reason.
