I also rehydrate mine once or twice before tossing them…but I would never wait until they are hard to do so. Once the crystals inside harden they can damage the outer casing and lead to the dreaded leaks. Same with immersing them in water as some do. That outer casing isn’t designed to be steeped in water. Once the bags begin to feel a little thick I put them in this container with a small bowl of water to rehydrate. The manufacturer recommends against any rehydration…so I only do it once or twice so as not to push my luck. Been doing it this way for years and so far so good…
