Default Martin & Co. sent me..... something.....

Got something interesting from UPS from Martin & Co. today, but I’m not sure what it is.
Part catalog, part press kit, part wall art, includes a CD-R with interviews with Chris Martin, one of the Avett Brothers, and other stuff but I’m still going through it all. All packaged up to look like an album.

I don’t know why I got it, the shipping wt is marked as two pounds so it can’t be cheap to send out a zillion of these. Anyway, kinda cool!

The glossy photos are actually pretty nice. Frameable, even.
The blacks are black, just doesn't show up with the 'copy table' I'm using.

Looks like a clear case of unsolicited porn through the mail. Federal offence if I'm not mistaken.

A short while back I answered a short survey from Martin. Last month they sent me a pretty nice photo collection of 15 Custom Shop guitars. And a thank you note. Maybe this is something similar.

I'm not a Martin club member and I received one too. Weird. I'm not sure what they're up to here besides advertising custom made guitars. But heck, this is an awfully expensive way to do that.

For myself they're preaching to the chorus. I've seen their custom shop and have the utmost respect for it.

I received this package fron Martin also. It is just good advertising for their custom shop guitars. I do not belong to the Martin owners club and I have not purchased a custom shop guitar. I did buy a Martin OM-28 Retro in 2013 and took the factory tour last June.

Did any of you purchase a new Martin guitar in 2013 and register your warranty?

Default Martin & Co. sent me..... something.....

I took the survey, and bought a new Martin in 2013. And I didn't get zilch! I'd take a free set of strings or anything!

I actually picked up this stuff at a Martin show I attended last night in Jacksonville Beach. It was a small crowd on a dark and rainy night at Georges Music. I had some private one on one time with Craig Thatcher while I was playing an 18 Authentic and he was playing a Madi/Sitka OM28. He was wonderfully nice guy and great player. Authentics are off the chain! I can definitely hear the diff between them and the Marquis and Standards. The tops are so resonant and the builds as light as a feather. The hand carved soft V necks sit comfortably in the pocket of my hand yet I did not like the V on the Marquis...although the Italian Spruce over Madi was awesome.
The only thing missing was our buddy Rich Macklin aka Addison hangin' with us and all his Martin mojo experience. I learned a lot here and thus went in very informed and even helped another fella figure out what to buy by demoing 3 OM/OOO for him and he ended up getting that Madi OM28 Craig was playin'! Though I don't own a Martin I've played many over many years and my goal was a HD28e Retro or dreaming of a '31 D28A neither of which was there.

So enjoy the lit and goodies; Martin did a nice job on them and sunk some $$$ on doing a quality job in demonstrating they have an instrument for virtually everyone!
