Guess what? I just bought a D-28 from 2018 today. We'll see how it all fits. That will be all for now!

Thank you all for your thoughts.

I love Martins in general and have owned a D-28. I currently own a HD-35. That one stays at home. My other "secondary" guitars I have no problem playing out with (when the Covid thing is hopefully over). If you decide to get a D-28, also consider a HD-28. The bracing is scalloped which in theory lends itself to a bigger sound. See if you can play them side by side.

Thank you but doesn't the HD-28 have a V-shaped neck which makes it harder to do barre chords? Also, is the nut 1 3/4"?

The newer ones have a Modified Low Oval neck with 1 3/4 nut. They feel and play like a newer D-28 but sound different due to the bracing.

You can't go wrong with a D-28, it's the most iconic acoustic guitar ever made for a reason.

I definitely have a tendency to want to keep certain guitars inside, but Central Park, NYC is not a place where you want to take your best guitars. My feeling is that once I get better gigs, then I'll be more likely to take my higher level guitars.
