Bob Dylan is probably the most covered songwriter who ever wrote a song. I like his versions of every one of those songs!

i would say the opposite. dave's version is perfect. joe's is great but he squeaked too much.

i just found a documentary/interview of joe on an old vhs tape so i dumped it to dvd(yea, i know it is dead too!)

play music!

I like Steve Goodman's better and saw him sing it live a few times. Arlo's had too much production, Steve's is just fun. But I'll bet Steve loved Arlo's song and probably got a bigger payday from it than anything else in his life.

Back then I was one a few hundred lucky people who got to see Arlo and Steve do a duet on ''City of New Orleans'' at a farm benefit out in western Massachusetts.
That's awesome. I am a little late in life coming to appreciating these guys. So I have not had the chance to see either, especially Steve Goodman. I was only 21 when he died and had no idea who he was. If Arlo comes close to DC in the near future, I will go see him.

Speaking of Steve Goodman, I also like to play and sing David Alan Coe's version of You Never Call Me By My Name. I like the Coe version for the extra bonus verse.

'If I should fall behind' by Bruce Springsteen is a great song and he has done many different versions himself but my favourite is this version by Paul Carrack.

I still love Dolly's original recording, sweet, simple, and stunning!

Johnny Winter "Jumping Jack Flash" live from Johnny Winter and. The Stones wish they could of done it half as well. It's the best version of a rock song bar none. Listen to it once and tell me I'm wrong.
