Seven years ago, I used a wireless Shure Beta58a wireless unit, and recall that it always worked well for my voice, and up close mic work. (I'm a mic eater)
Over the last six or seven years I've tried many, many vocal mics trying to find "the one." I really like the sound of some for my voice: Blue Encore 100 Blue Encore 200 Blue Encore 300 Sennheiser e935 Sennheiser e945 EV Cobalt Co9 EV ND767a Heil PR20 AKG Perception Wireless 45 And a few that don't work so well with my voice: AKG D5 DLX Audix OM2 Sennheiser e835 Shure SM58 Anyway, a local music store in my area just had their annual "cost" sale and I scored a Shure Beta58a for $133 brand new. After a 2 hour session with it, I think that for my voice, while playing guitar, this mic is "the one."

The Beta58A is a superb mic used by a lot of jazz pros. Great choice!

The Beta 58A has been my working microphone for many years now... works great for me, too!

There is a reason the B58 is so popular - it does what you need it to!
It isn’t my favourite mic I’ll be honest but there are times when I’ll reach for the B58s if it is a situation that warrants them. Personally I like the Sennheiser e945 more (if we are going to compare super-cardioid dynamics), I find it gives a warmer, more even representation of most voices, but it’s all relative.
