Default URGENT Help with my ZED12FX

Is anyone on here now that knows how to get the stereo channels working for a mic with a matching transformer. Can't seem to get a signal and I am doing a benefit this afternoon. I need the extra channels for mics.

Bob,

I'm thinking your stereo channels require a much hotter signal than your mics can provide. Do you have another compact mixer that you can use as a "sub mixer"?(mics into sub-mixer/ mixer main output into the ZED's stereo channel.)

PS. I've copied your post, and posted it on the Live Sound & Production forum over at Harmony Central in order to get alternative opinions. I'll post those suggestions immediately as they come in.

Good luck.

Bob,

What other equipment do you have at your disposal, that can provide a mic input? Are you using your K-8's? Are there not mic inputs directly in the speakers' mixer input section? On my Yorkville NX55p's, my mixer can go into the NX55p's "line input", and I have a mic input there as well, with it's own volume knob.

Great news Bob, that should do it. You'll probably get a bit of loss (-3db) through the sub-mixer, so, try to run your vocal mics thru the main mixer, and any other mics (instrument) thru the sub-mixer.

Break a leg !!!!

Good you got access to an auxiliary mixer, BoB.

Remember to keep the button for ST Return off (i.e., in the out position) on your stereo channels, as A&H recommends, to reduce noise on those channels.

Also, you know you have 10db of gain to use on those channels if you need it.

I obviously don't know ANYTHING about this mixer and understand MUCH LESS about PA than I thought. Don't have time to go into it now but I NEED to get a grip on a few things.

Meanwhile I didn't need to mic the guitar amps so I had enough channels on my ZED XLR's for everything else. Thanks for reaching out with help. I appreciate this forum. gtg

BoB/335,

Your show was a success, and at the end of the day, that's all that really matters. Glad to hear everything worked out well.
