2014 Martin D28 Authentic 1937 non VTS Adirondack over Madagascar Rosewood
What Martin says:
“Perhaps the most revered vintage D-28s are the ones created in 1937 with forward shifted hand-scalloped X-bracing, Adirondack red spruce soundboard and a 1 3/4" neck width. This addition to the Authentic series is a recreation of the original 1937 model offered with Madagascar rosewood back and sides.” What I think: This is a really good Martin! Big bass with pentrating trebles, and sounds good when strumming rhythm. The Madagascar is a good set with nice grain a deep reddish chocolate hue. I wanted a NON VTS version of this guitar and they only made that during the 2014 production year. They didn’t have the VTS process in 1937, so to me, the 2014 build year is the most ‘Authentic’ of the Authentic lineup. Here are the specs: NON VTS Adirondack Spruce Top Madagascar Back and Sides Forward shifted scalloped X brace 5/16” Adirondack bracing 1 ¾” nut width Hide Glue construction throughout Dovetail neck joint 2 ¼” width at the 12th fret 2 5/16” string spacing at the bridge Action is at 6/64 bass side and 4/64 treble side measured at 12th fret. Condition is very good. See photos. $sold shipped and paypal’d to your lower 48 address using USPS Priority Mail Thanks for checking out my listing...Any questions? Lots of activity!...So thank you all for your inquiries.
In an effort to communicate a bit more efficiently, here are common questions about this guitar answered: Is the lots of saddle left? Yes...plenty. 0.124” showing. I have never touched it. Does it need a neck reset? No...not even close. Have you reset the neck?...No, see above. Do you worry about the neck with ‘just’ a T bar in it? No...not at all. Hey Long Tooth, don’t you need a truss rod for relief adjustment? No...compression fretting done well can put relief anywhere in a very playable range. Will you take [insert crazy lowball offer here] for it? I appreciate your offer, but respectfully decline. Will you take a trade? No...need a straight sale to raise some cash for my ‘grail’ guitar that has become available. Will you send me pics of [insert area of guitar here]? Yes...of course. Just let me know. Does it sound good?...heck yeah! It’s an Authentic! Haven’t run into a dud yet! Thank you AGF! |
