Cherry was voted on for bindings - which is kind of light.

Definitely not number two. I like 3 very well. Give it a try. It would be fun binding it.

2018 Stephen Kinnaird Part 2

And I suggest moving it up to the bend in the shoulder. Closer to the neck... that way it works much better for stereo for the player. Your left ear gets MORE! 20180608_154424.jpg Here is what John K just did for me... anyone else agree on the placement for the driver? Paul

But I like the soundport slid down onto the lower portion of the upper bout, but that's only because I hear better out of my right ear than my left!

I felt bad about taking up the whole afternoon but I'm very happy about our decisions. And I loved your guitar, Ryan. Don't tell Steve it was my favorite, but if it had had a sound port, it might be here in Austin with me now. Steve has sold me on the sound port idea - or rather those other guitars did. Thank you both so much for being so generous with your time!

Here's a link to my Facebook page with some photos. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater
I absolutely love all of these guitars. Luckily Ryan didn't think to put a sound port on this OM or I just wouldn't have been able to resist bringing it home. Those little holes in the sides make a big difference! If any of you AFGers who dislike sound ports (I used to fall into that camp) want a fabulous OM at a great price, this guitar would be hard to beat. I loved the wedge - it makes it noticeably more comfortable to play. The Primavera OM is very light in weight as well as in color. I think it is gorgeous. Of the three guitars in the photos it is least bass heavy. I'm not saying it's deficient in the bass, but the other two have profound bass for such small guitars. The Bubinga CS is also a great sounding guitar, but the added depth is a bit much for this old man's right shoulder. If I commissioned one it would definitely have a wedge, and maybe a bevel. But that's just my handicap: absolutely nothing wrong with this lovely guitar. I think it has the most modern-style, piano-like tone of these three.

Thanks Stan for spending the day with us picking out wood and picking guitars. I think the choices you made were primo! Way to turn the apartment into a little photo studio. The pics are very nice. And of course, thanks for the kind words about the guitars.
I’m glad you liked the “While the Boss is away...” guitar. I do have a hole saw if you just need that soundport. To everyone else, I have made that guitar available at an exclusive AGF price in the Marketplace here: Sitka/Red Gum OM. It really did sound good when you were singing with it Stan. I’m glad you got to finally play it. Of course now Friday is a big let down having to do actual work. |
