Oh, and Paul Simon did use a capo located pretty far up the guitar neck.

That was really awesome! I actually meant what he must have written alone in his bathroom, but I'm sure you're right anyway. Voices lower as they age, don't they?

Dan Crary used to perform often with a Taylor baritone. When he wanted to play in common guitar keys, Capo II.

I know what you mean. It confused me, too. One guy was using a partial capo why up the neck and played above and below it - that was pretty cool. I suppose you might, though, just want to lower the tuning less than a whole 4th but not want to detune a standard? Nothing sacred about the baritone, though, I'd certainly put a capo on it if it worked better for sounds I wanted.

Now that you mention it, I'm sure sure I've seen someone play with two partial capos. Not all that far from the nut, as I recall. Worked great for the way he wanted to play that song.

Edit:
Nope. I can only find him with one "normal" capo and one partial, like:

I don't have a baritone yet. Should in a few months. I'm planning on using a capo a lot to detune from E standard as I see fit.

What do you mean - to capo between the baritone tuning up to E standard?

Planning on tuning to C and putting a capo on the 4th fret and "detuning" on the fly with the capo. I was previously a Steinberger Trans Trem player, and kinda liked the idea of detuning on the fly.

Getting a coat of finish. Mine is in the middle. I really wanted to get a Taylor 618e (maple jumbo) and a 28.6" scale baritone, but funds and space were limited and I had to combine them.

I noticed Martin Tallstrom doing this on some of his tunes with a baritone. I liked the tunes and tone so I tried it. It really helps to lower the tension on the baritone strings and make it a little easier on my fingers. The stretch is not so drastic either with the 28" scale on my Goodall. I like C tunings so I tune it to B flat and capo up two frets to C.

Ever use the capo on the Baritone? I've been tempted to try one just to see if I can find a range my voice would fit. . .

Someone posted in here this week about going to see John Prine live. He said, "Thank God somebody invented the capo. Otherwise, I'd play everything in G."

This is a little too true for me as well.
