Default Cool WWII Movie "Battle for Sevastopol"

Watched "Battle for Sevastopol" this morning and it is a pretty good WWII movie covering a very little know subject.

It basically follows the life of Lyudmila Pavilochenko, a university student who became "Lady Death". After showing aptitude at a rifle range, she was trained as a Soviet Army sniper and sent into combat against the invading German Army. Prior to being pulled off the line after wounds from a mortar attack, she had claimed 309 confirmed victims.

After her active service, she visited America and became the first Soviet citizen invited to stay at the White House. She developed a long friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt.

Woody Guthrie wrote a song about her. The Soviets had about 2000 female snipers during the war and only about 500 survived.

Interesting flick about a little known aspect of WWII.

Sounds like a serious movie about a serious subject.

But seeing it pop up on new posts here, I thought DADF#AD...

Sounds like a good movie. I recently watched a Russian WWII movie called Road To Berlin...though the title is misleading it was extremely good with very good subtitles.

I'm going to give Battle For Sevastopol a try.

Let me guess, you thought it was a Bob Hope movie?

Is Battle for Sevastopol available currently on cable TV? If so, where?

Thanks.

I watched it on Amazon Prime and it was a very good movie. However, just like "Road To Berlin" I thought the title was a bit misleading. Nonetheless, it's well worth watching.
