Default Suggestions for a reverb and/or chorus box .....

With more of our gigs being in places that utilize “house” PA’s, I’ve come to realize I need a box (or two?) to add at least reverb and perhaps chorus (in smaller venues my amp supplied reverb). However, it has been a long time (1990’s when I was all electric) since I last looked at what’s out there, so I’m wondering what everyone is using these days ... thanks

I'm using a pair of TC Electronic "minis"...the Mini HOF reverb (with the default Hall reverb) and the mini Corona chorus (with a tri-chorus toneprint), both in the effects loop of a ToneDexter (reverb then chorus). They don't take up much real estate and work well. I use the reverb for most things and use the chorus sparingly for emphasis in ad lib sections of my solo pieces (I don't use the chorus at all in my world/celtic trio).

TC Electronics is recognized as one of, if not THE best, for all sorts of effects, including reverb and chorus.

I picked up a Zoom MS-70CDR a few years ago and it's worked well with my guitars, both electric and acoustic/electric

Perhaps a small acoustic/electric pedal board would suit your needs. My experience has been that the multi-effects units, though they have LOTS of pedals and effects and features, it takes a LONG TIME to pre program patches, and the acquired tones still leave a little to be desired.

For me, with a few individual stomps, I can very quickly dial in the exact tone I'm looking for.

I use an LR Baggs Para DI, GFS tuner, boost pedal, Donner Square Reverb, Mooer Baby Water Chorus, and Electro-Harmonix Canyon Delay.

FWIW, many reverb pedals have a modulation setting which can give you your reverb and chorus together, so you'd only need one pedal.

Cheers.

Boss pedals are best. They have always been made to stay in the mix. I use a Boss CH-1 and RV-6. I've had the TC pedals and I own Strymon pedals.
