Default Question about a Fender Stratocaster

Hey everyone,

I have a Fender Mexican Stratocaster from 2005 in very good condition. Throughout the course of owning the instrument I realized I HATE single coil pick-ups. I want to bring it to local music shops to try to trade it for a cheap semi-hallow(Ibanez or Epiphone). Do you think I will get anything for my guitar? Or at lease be able to trade it for what I'm looking for? Or would ir be a better idea to go on the classifieds here or on e-bay?

Thanks!

Couple hundred I'd say, though you'll do much better selling it yourself.

That guitar might be routed for humbuckers if you're interested in messing with it. Here's the route from my '08 Am Dlx Strat:

Yeah I actually was thinking about doing that(installing new pickups) but I heard that the tone that a lot of the jazz guitarists get is because the guitar is a semi-hallow.

So I don't know right now I think I'm gonna try to trade it on the classified.

Thanks for the response!

You can also try swapping the stock pickups out for Seymour Duncan Classic Stacks. Nice Hendrix tone with no hum whatsoever.

Ahh. Didn't know you wanted the Jazz vibe. FWIW, jazz sounds like jazz because of the jazz players way more than their instruments, but I feel your pain. I love semi and hollow electrics.

I'd advise going to TGP and offering up your guitar in trade for what you're looking for. You'll do better trading in a venue like that than in a store.

Good luck!
