I can't say I hate them but I am disappointed with them.
Much of my playing style involves fingers pressing down on the strings while sliding up or down the neck, a string squeak nightmare with round wound strings. Many folks claimed Elixir strings would reduce string noise. Some folks even claimed Elixir strings would eliminate string noise. Elixir strings reduced the string noise only slightly for me

For many years I used D’Addario extra light gauge strings, but recently picked up some Martin light gauge strings to fit my Takamine dreadnaught, and months later they still sound pretty great! I don’t think I’ve tried elixirs on my acoustic, but I may have on my electric.

I guess I am in the minority. Elixirs are all I use on the acoustics - except my 12 string. I have light phosphor bronze D'Addarios on it right now. On the electrics, I go back and forth between Ernie Ball slinkys and D'addario 10s.

On another front, you are not in the minority of those who use Elixirs. They are my brand of choice too, as are many others who posted here. Elixirs are a best selling brand after all. Generally avoid treated/coated strings. I have used the Nano Elixirs on a few instruments that could use a little muting. My body chemistry used to kill the B and E plan strings, the nano treatment really kept them from tarnishing.
Nowadays, I like the sound of Martial untreated strings and they seem to last a long time. They sound really good with age.

Hate, no. Dislike, yes
They "squeak". They shed and get mangy. The nanos are way better than the pollys, but I much preferred EXPs back before those got discontinued.

Don't like Elixer's, or Taylor's. Also don't care for the acoustic tone on allot of the newer music. Maybe there's a correlation. I like the recorded acoustic tones of the more vintage music. 50's, 60's, 70's. Usually Martin's, Gibson's with PB strings.

I like Elixir strings well enough but I can't afford them.
I am more likely to break the G or D string before the set wears out. Then I use a regular string and before long there is a real contrast in string sounds. If I keep them long enough, I will have a regular G and D string with the coated E and A. I can buy 2 1/2 sets of regular strings for the price of Elixirs, and I can change my strings more often without breaking the bank.
