Default Finding free & accurate tab for fingerstyle

I'm looking for songs where the original version is quite recognisable. I love some the Beatles arrangements by Troubleclef, if you don't know him then take a look on YouTube, he's great.

He has a great version of "When I'm 64" & "I'm only sleeping" among others.

I am happy to pay for decent content if it turns out that accurate free tab does not exist.

Cheers

You're probably not going to readily find tab for that kind of stuff (and I have been following troubleclef for several years), because he's incorporating the melody / vocals in his arrangements.

I thought that might be the case. Looks like I'll have to do it the old fashioned way & learn it by ear. I've got a pretty good grasp of that kind of fingerstyle although not in the same league as Tony TroubleClef.

IMO - the fact that something is free usually means its a volunteer submission -and the quality of that is based upon the expertise of the submitter - sometimes you get lucky and you get it dead on , but that usually doesnt happen -- of course sometimes you get lucky .

Have you asked Troubleclef if tab is available?

Hi,

I have seen other people asking via Youtube but he says he never tabs anything out & if he was to arrange the song again he would be probably do it totally differently.

The more I think about it the more I want to work it out for myself like he must have done. I often find I learn the first couple of bars of a song from tab & then get the rest by ear so it's really a case of trying to get those first few bars by ear.

Hey there, just download free powertab program and head over to ultimateguitar.com. The program let's you speed up or slow down the tune as you learn it. I have had good success with them. Some tabs need a little interpretation and different articulation that you can improvise yourself. I have done a bunch of Martin Simpson stuff that was really accurately tabbed. Hope this helps!!

Hi Ricky...

I have added to my DVD library Fred Sokolow's jazz, Gershwin, and a couple other of his teaching DVDs.

Also, Pete Huttlinger's "Essential Exercises for Fingerstyle Guitar", and Al Petteway's "Celtic Blues & Beyond".

I own both of John Carlini's DVDs on "Chord Melody", and have watched everything I could find by Martin Taylor (yes it's his name) on chord melody which is the style you are speaking of.

Both Homespun tapes dot com, and Acoustic Music Resource dot com have extensive teaching DVD series by accomplished players.

I own 3 of Muriel Anderson's "All Star Guitar Night" DVDs. She features a host of players on each in a live setting.

If you can find Tuck Andress's early DVD from the 90s it's an inspiration too.

Many of them come with 'paper' or access to pdf files. All of them improved my ear/eye connections (ability to watch and figure things out).

Hope this helps...

You may find some of the arrangements here http://www.guitardownunder.com/fingerstyle.html useful. All free to download in tab and standard notation.

I've got a few but they are more chord melody type arrangements. Feel free to check them out: http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/moneych...olley2011.html or: http://web.archive.org/web/200503091...m/midifil8.htm

What about Laurence Jubers arrangements? His version of When I'm 64 is similar to Troubleclef's. All of his CD 'LJ plays the Beatles Vol 2' is available as a tab book. Several of his tunes from 'LJ plays the Beatles Vol 1' are in his other books, and 'Pop Goes Guitar' is a must.

Or, Jacques Stotzems CD 'Catch The Spirit' has some excellent arrangements on it. Hendrix, U2, Sting, Radiohead etc. Jacques will email the tab for the tunes he has written out, if you drop him a line.

Or check out the website Songsterr. Full of tabs.
