Silly Martin, Taylor, Eastman thread.
My friend came by tonight with his new Taylor314ce. We played together with my EastmanAC720. We switched back and forth to see which we liked better. Both sounded excellent! I Got out the Martin D-28. After round robin with all of them, we both agreed.....Martin then Eastman then Taylor! Totally subjective I know, but three great sounding guitars! We agreed we are both very lucky.

Defintely fun when you get to compare guitars from different makers. All these brands from imports like Yamaha, Takamine, Alvarez to Blueridge and Eastman and all the big US made brands among many others all make great guitars. That’s why I never understand brand bashing like you see on here sometimes.

I played a couple of small body Eastmans at Arkansas Music Works a few days ago and was really impressed with sound and workmanship. For the money you get a lot of guitar!

If you prefer the Martin sound over the Taylor sound, this comparison will make sense.
IMHO Eastman sounds more like Martin than Taylor. Yes, you have some great guitars to play and compare.

I've got one of each, although all of them down on the price food chain. I love my Martin's tone but it's quiet. I love the Taylor's playability and "alive" sound, but its a shade too bright. But it records amazing. The Eastman dread is everything I want in a dread, loud, dynamic, and easy to play.

If one is seeking a certain "sound" than every guitar that fits into that general grouping will sound "better" than every other guitar that is not in that general grouping. That is fine but to compare a guitar that is in a different grouping and say that it does not sound like the guitar in the other grouping is not a terribly fair comparison. To get a fair comparison one would need to go into a comparison where there are apples and oranges and grapes and plums, etc. with the ear to listen to the quality of each guitar within the context of the general tonal grouping in which they may fit, or acknowledge that in some cases there are guitars that have their own unique tonal quality and judge them according to those standards. Otherwise you can compare a $25K Ford Mustang Coupe to a $250K Porsche 911 Turbo S and if you like Mustangs and the way they drive and especially if you have a Mustang or have had one you would say the Mustang is the better car than the Porsche. And for such a person that is great and very true, but it misses the higher overall quality, features and drivability of the Porsche.

Actually, it's all about personal preference for a particular sound that sets people apart. But, no two people will come together with different guitars to compare ears and direct their remarks in that manner; the heart of the matter.

Wistah made the mistake of saying he likes the Eastman the best of the three.
