I owned a Martin CEO-7 that I really loved. I still miss that guitar, but couldn't do the modV neck.
The Eastman E8OM I have is short scale (as they all are) and has a deep, rich tone that equals nearly every Martin OM-28 I've played -- and it's far less than $2K Last edited by MHC; 06-01-2020 at 10:11 AM. |

What is your favorite short scale guitar under 2K?
My Taylor 412e-R sitka over rosewood Grand Concert. In reference to your criteria, I got it used in great shape for a lot less than 2K a few years ago. It's an X-braced model. As a general rule, most of the currently made GCs from Taylor are short scale, but not all are, or have been. My 512ce all mahogany GC has a 25.5" scale. Don .

For me, it's the Martin CEO-7. Like it so much it's now my only acoustic guitar. Paid $1980 for it new, should be less used. But that's my choice because I love the Mod V neck and the 2 5/16" string spacing - anything less than 2 1/4" is a deal breaker for me. AND because it's sort of between the size of an 00 and 000 - kind of perfect in a lot of ways for my preferences.
If I didn't care about the neck shape or the spacing, I think either the 00-18 or 000-18 would be just as good and slightly less money new. And if you prefer rosewood, the 00-28 or 000-28 should be possible for under $2K used.

I'm in the same boat. I have a 2014 with genuine mahogany that is a spectacular sounding instrument. However, I am probably going to sell it due to not liking the mod v neck........ |

Martin 00-18, followed closely by Martin CEO-7.

this week...........acquired a wonderful Gibson AE LG2 in a trade a few weeks ago, everything about it fits me perfect, the tone, the neck shape, the fretboard width, the weight(3.5lbs), the low action, the beautiful playability it just has.
like it so much I just picked up another one from the classifieds(thank you Russ!) to redo with a J-200 style pickguard and give as a graduation present. ask me next week and it could change............. one I had in the past and wish I had not sold, Taylor 412ce Sitka/rosewood satin finish, basic trim with small dot fretboard inlay, simple rosette. it played and sounded wonderful. owned many taylors of different models, but that one just did it all in a grand way. d |
