Dodgy TRS splitter??
Hi,
Has anyone ever experienced anything similar to this?... I have a Boss Acoustic singer live amp and I use the Boss FS-6 coupled with a Roland RCC-5-TR28 splitter cable to trigger the looper and Chorus effects. Just lately, when I plug the cable into the looper jack, the looper instantly cycles, ie, it starts recording, then stops recording and then clears the loop. After this the footswitch won't work the looper at all. It does this even when the footswitch isn't connected to the other end. I have another (cheaper and nastier) switch which seems to work fine. I'm a bit confused and pretty clueless when it comes to electronics. Any ideas? |

So, I tried a couple of other cables in the looper jack and it does the same thing with those as well... I guess it's not the splitter cable after all but something to do with the jack itself.... Strange how the "cheap" foot switch still works fine though?

Did you check the configuration of your FS-6? (MODE & POLARITY)
Why don't you use a TRS cable instead of the splitter?

Thanks for your reply Cuki79,
Funnily enough the Roland support team have asked me the same questions today. I was using the splitter cable as that's what I had on hand, and had it set up like the 2x FS-5 switches in that diagram as that is effectively what an FS-6 is right? I'll double check the polarities and such when I get in from work tonight... Maybe the kids have been messing with my switches!!! Odd thing is though, the same thing happens without the foot switch attached... just plugging a cable in to the looper socket. |

Turns out it was the polarity switch on the FS-6. Thanks again for your help Cuki79... I suppose those switches should have been the first thing to check.
Did I mention I was a electronological dullard!? |
