I'm not sure about the breaker Fred. The kitchen is fairly new (17 years old) and has all gfs outlets so its possible, but with my wife home 24/7 I'm not about to start flipping them off to find out.....

I would forget why I'm wearing the rubber band probably anyway

The fridge doesn't make noise all the time, just when I want to record something it seems.

BTW, Room EQ Wizard (REW) is free software that will help you measure your room and both help you know what you need, and help you quantify how well whatever you do is. So you can use it to see of blankets help, etc.
