Default Should I put a pickguard on this guitar? Opinions wanted

I'm on the fence if I should put a pickguard on my Harmony H-162. What do you think? Even if I do, the screws don't fit so I would have to put some kind of adhesive on it.

Without the pickguard, that guitar looks a bit gaunt.

Personally, I think a pickguard looks good on those models...

I'd go with tortoise, but I think whatever you'd choose would look nice...

If I did go with a pick guard, you wouldn’t recommend trying to screw it back in, would you? It doesn’t quite fit in the holes that are there. Is there an adhesive that safe to use?

I would definitely put a pickguard on it.

What adhesive can I safely use for it? Can you use the 3M spray that you can get at Walmart or Home Depot?

The trouble with it naked is you can clearly see the screw-holes and outline where it once had a pickguard.

I like the idea of something a little more decorative than plain black.

You need to use a sheet of double sided adhesive - try an Art supply store and go for the thinnest they have.

The only reason I was hesitant about a pick guard, is I thought maybe I should just go with the beat up ugly look to it. After all it is a 55-year-old guitar.

I like that beat-up look, Paul. Nice battle scars. Too bad you didn't have the stories behind them (or do you)?

Unfortunately not. Just got the guitar a few days ago. On an impulse I found some, believe it or not, double-sided rug adhesive and I put it on the pickguard and it seems to of worked perfectly. The deed is done. The more I look at it the more I’m happy with the choice.

No way. I want those screw holes so people know it wasn't just me.

Good choice. There's old mojo, and then there's old screw holes. Not the same.
