You're not the first to ask.

Mmm. Detective work!

Well first off that looks very like a Martin D35 but why would anyone want to do that to a genuine D35.

That headstock is a one off and has been modified. I don't think anyone is going to pin down that logo to a brand.

In the 1970's loads of Japanese factories were making Martin knock-offs C F Mountain, Jagard & Co, Takamine & Co, K Yasuma & Co, C F Suzuki & Co, Matsuoka Dreadnaught (yes that is how they spelt it!). These are sometimes called "Lawsuit" copies but evidence from any actual lawsuits from Martin is sparse.

So my bet is that this is a Japanese clone which someone has taken as the basis for a little project to fit some electrics and maybe upgrade some of the ornamentation.

My six'penneth is that it was originally a 1970's CF Mountain M37.

Is there a prize??

Thanks. I figured if someone at AGF doesn't know, it can't be known.

Not a Martin headstock - wrong shape and proportions.

Not a D-35. A D-35 has an Ebony F/B and a three-piece back (and thus two back-strips), whereas the guitar in the pic appears to have a rosewood F/B and a single centre back-strip, indicating a two-piece back.

I dunno what it is, but a Martin it ain’t.

My guess is it's a cheap chinese knock off of a Martin. the headstock looks like a martin headstock but clearly is not a genuine martin headstock its a custom mod job, no interior sticker with any manufacturers info so Its pretty much impossible to say "definitively" what the guitar is, but chinese knock off would be my diagnosis, I may be wrong but that's my impression.

My guess would be a '70s era Martin copy from Japan. FWIW here's the headstock logo used on the fretboard of a different guitar as well as the fretboard of an Epiphone Sheraton...
