As a fairly recent convert to finger-style guitar playing, this was an excellent challenge. I would welcome any advice and/or recommendations for further study.

My only request: post more Renbourn! I especially love his original compositions.

It seems like many people learn Bert Jansch tunes, but few seem to go for John Renbourn. A shame as I always thought Renbourn was far more innovative.

I shall do my best.

To be honest, I do fall into this category: I've learnt many Jansch tunes, but this is my first Renbourn. I think Jansch's approach was still very innovative but more narrow and, on the whole, more simple. Whereas Renbourn could really range around and produced many solo pieces of more or less classical-level difficulty (this being the reason - as he admits in an interview in the 'British Fingerpicking Guitar' tab book - he rarely played them live!).

'The Hermit' has a lot of amazing stuff so I think i'll look there next...

Renbourn is a stylist, you made for his music a gift he will appreciate from the skies. And help the new guitarist to know his intimistic music.

Years ago I learnt his Plainsong. And it was a huge but satisfing effort. Also Luke's little summer, water gypsy, Luckett sunday..more and more jewels

black balloon and bert & john are among my favorite albums. i love this song (and english dance and black balloon on that album). b&j is a perfect manifestation of human potential and beauty; pardon my gushing. speaking of the hermit, my favorite tune there is probably bicycle tune. but now i am rambling. your cover is so very well done. thank you for sharing!
