Not scratchy at all. I wear the for 100 mile bike rides, six to eight hours at a time. They are wicking polyester like a Nike running shirt or nice golf polo. Very popular with cyclists here in the deep south.

You can probably find the thicker winter insulating arm warmers at REI or any bike store. They may not have the summer "Sun screens" out on the shelf in January so probably a good idea to call ahead.

Plus, I got a black one and a white one so I can accessorize stylishly!
Yep... cooling sleeves, sun screens, arm warmers...

3/4 length baseball shirts are what I wear around the house in the summer..
It’s the stickiness that bothers me, too

The sun sleeve seems like a safe bet. The members here are very helpful, but opinions are just that, and there is no reason to believe your guitar will require being marked up simply by playing it. Mine look like new and I play them all the time.

Check these out. I think this is the way to go.

To the O.P. If you want your guitar to stay in pristine condition I'd suggest you leave it in the case. You're going to mark it (at the very least) on the neck, fretboard and frets just by picking it up.

It's going to be really difficult to play a guitar to its full potential if your also trying to avoid touching it, which is the only way you'll keep it pristine.

Life IS too short to worry about this. Just play it and let it grow old gracefully and collect the tell tale signs that it was enjoyed and played.
Of course you are right. I guess I'm trying to treat it like it's someone else's. However, I do appreciate the workmanship that went into the finishing details of the instrument and I want to keep it looking as good as it sounds. I play it a lot. I just wipe it down afterward. It's mostly because I don't like a nasty feeling neck, but I admit the care is seeping over to the nice, shiny top.

Plus, I'm through wearing belt buckles or shirt buttons when I play.

You said it better than I did. That's how I feel.

This is funny! I ordered exactly those yesterday after seeing this thread. And now you recommend them.
I never had any tattoos, earrings or similar things. Waiting to see some dropped jaws from people knowing me.

Do you have those sleeves? Are they comfortable?

I wouldn't. The ink may bleed onto the guitar. I would stick to white.

As the warm weather approaches (in California), I want to be able to avoid dulling the finish on the lower bout with my forearm without needing to wear a long-sleeve shirt.

Does anyone here use a guitar sleeve? The only one I've found so far is made by Oasis.

Advice? Voices of experience?

Or am I just going to give in at some point and trash the thing? (I doubt that.)
Clean and polish the guitar properly and you dont have to worry about any of that. You should be polishing that guitar at least every time you change the strings. Wiping down the high traffic areas is important too. You will probably apply polish to those areas 2 or 3 times as often as the rest of the instrument.

Why not just wear a long sleeve Gibson t-shirt?

Enjoy!

Maybe I’d feel different if I had a $5,000+ guitar, but I like the honest wear my Martin is showing.

The white ones reflect the sun and I think they can actually keep me cooler when out in the Georgia sun.
