Default Help me get this sound please!

Hi!

I'm interested in some options that will give me this (the lead singer) guitar sound:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO5ao7gEH3o

I can't tell if he has a Sunrise or Black Angel or Blackstack pickup. And I don't know what kind of preamp he is using either. But I'm interested in suggestions of pickup/preamp combos that will give me a similar magnetic acoustic sound.

Thanks!

Look at the screws... Can't be a Sunrise. The sunrise has not the screws aligned with the poles. They are on the bridge side. Here they are aligned.

Then the brand name is dark instead of white. The poles and screws are dark too. So It's a Fishman black stack

You can see his electric rig on a rig rundown on facebook

I hate to tell you, but that is a studio recording they are lip syncing to. Don't believe me? Where is the mic for the shakers that are so prominent and direct in the mix?

Yeah I also noticed that and figured they were playing along to something previously recorded. But I do think that is his guitars sound in the mix. It definitely sounds like magnetic pickup rather then a vintage or lofi mic to me.

Thank you! You are an awesome detective! Looks like that pedal setup is more for his electric setup. I wouldn’t mind trying the kick drum thing sometime though.

You are spot on for the Fishman though. I’ll give one of those a shot. The Sunrise is harder to come by.

I’ve read that lots of people like the SB1 (I think?) preamp from Sunrise for that Fishman pickup. But those are sold out online. Anyone have any ideas of an equivalent preamp?

Buy a Cole Clark guitar. To my ears they sound like that amplified.
