Default Thoughts on Fenders all-solid Mahogany Parlor *pics*

...the PM-2?
It looks great and I saw some of the YouTube reviews. all solid mahogany with nice appointments. I'm not sure what's not to love about it. the GS Mini seems to be its closest competitor and they are a proven guitar. anybody own or played one of these Fenders. I haven't seen one yet in person.

I play mine every day. It is the couch guitar, and I like it.

The satin open-pore finish is a nice touch.

Of the reviews I've read they were hit and miss. That kind of response tells me to move on. There are so many great options these days. Why waste my time?

Good looking guitar! It’s solid wood b/s too?

I had a cort luce 450. A parlor guitar with a 3mm cedar top. Seriously...it didn't move at all. After that i lost all intrest in parlors.
But had a go with that one last week. The thinnest top I ever known. It sounded great.

If you ever get the chance, try an Alvarez AP or MP series parlour. They sounded impressive to me, a died-in-the-wool dreadnought guy.

I can second that. Just got an AP66 a couple weeks ago - beautifully warm sounding little guitar with vintage mojo to spare. Love it.

I haven't had a chance to play the PM-2, but it seems well received.

The PM2 is a great guitar for the money. All solid wood, looks good, plays well and sounds great. It comes with a hard case, that was important for me as I use this as my travel guitar. I highly recommend.

Played the entire series a year ago at my local shop. I found the "hit or miss" statement to be correct , at least with my ears. I also found some of the other builders to be the same...it's always worth a strum to hear and see for yourself

Letting uneven reviews dictate which guitars I should try would leave few options and make me miss some great ones.

Looks really cool, but I've never been blown away by Fenders' acoustic options. I'd definitely peel the pickgaurd off as first order of business, but I'm definitely a sucker for any mahogany small body

The Fender all-mahogany guitar that impressed the heck out of a bunch of us geezers who were sitting around was that Tim Armstrong Hellcat. I do not have a clue who Tim Armstrong is but we all liked the guitar and the price tag. I gather Fender is now offering a 12 string version.

My guess is that the Hellcat and Ibanez AC240 are basically the same guitar built in the same plant with different hardware. Every time I a/b the two I prefer the Ibanez's. I find the tuners to be not so hot on the Hellcat.

I'd like to try one of those Fender parlors myself, but have never run across one.

I played one in the store and couldn't handle the neck, hard to explain but up and down the neck it wasn't a smooth transition. They are all solid wood and look gorgeous. Ended up with a Simon and Patrick instead, which was all solid too.
I too was looking at a GS mini and decided to go with the Martin Jr D
