Default Seems like a deal...

I just bought "Making and Archtop Guitar" by Robert Benedetto from Amazon after stumbling on it will shopping for other stuff.

I'm hoping to have a go at building an archtop at some point, so I figured it might be good reading between now and then. I didn't know what to expect, but if figured for $22 it was worth taking a chance.

It came yesterday and it's a really nice book with lots of nice guitar porn and $22 is less than half the list price. Only time will tell if it's good enough to help me make a decent guitar, but the pictures alone seem worth the 22 bucks.

It seemed like a good deal, so I thought I'd pass it on.

It is an excellent book from one of the best archtop makers out there. Enjoy!

That's pretty much the standard book for building an arch top right there. I got it last year myself with the hopes of one day building one but I have been too busy with flat tops to give it a go yet.

FWIW you can buy CNC'd arch tops for a reasonable price. That is what I will do. The idea is that it gets you 'close' and then you will still need to fine tune it by hand. But it saves you from having to hog away the deadwood and make a mess of your shop

There's a lot of good tips in that book about guitar building in general, I use a variation of his method for radiusing fretboards.

Thanks for the replies. It just seemed like a heck of a deal for $22.

Redir, let’s trade notes on CNC guys. Here is one I found. I would appreciate any leads for others.

When his book first came out, I bought a copy, along with his 10-hour video series. I used the two as reference in making my first arch top guitar, played here acoustically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT2ufaDRSGQ

I'm sure yours will be good too.
