Thanks so much all! Ozzy, nice shot as well, it’s a nice framing device.

Light rain this morning - it's spring down here - flowers are all looking good.

Every year for at least the last 15, we've taken a family vacation in or around Grand Marais, MN, on the north shore of Lake Superior. For the last several years, we've stayed at a small resort on Devil Track Lake, 8 or 9 miles north of Grand Marais. A lovely peaceful spot, prone to beautiful sunsets.

Here's one of this years examples:

And here's a view of the harbour in Grand Marais:

And, finally, a beautiful eagle down at the harbour, who was in no hurry to fly away.

This grackle had just eaten a dragonfly (I'd post a shot of that, but don't have it on my phone - I'll post it when i remember!).

Apparently it didn't taste all that good!

Took a drive yesterday. This is the legacy of the fire that nearly made it to the doorstep of our suburbs 7 months ago. Although the rains & cool winter helped it's recovery somewhat the scale of destruction is still pretty evident. Forgot to take the good camera with me, the android still captures it pretty well.

On closer inspection at ground level it's encouraging to see the hardenbergia take hold so strongly, this hardy little groundcover seems to thrive as part of the recovery & being spring now it puts on a good show too.
Being a native to this area it's not surprisingly a popular garden choice.

The fire was hit & miss to an extent. There are surprising patches amongst the carnage that didn't burn, hopefully some of the wildlife took refuge there, I saw a few wallabies on the hop but nothing on the scale I would have seen 12 months ago.

Further down on the southern border with NSW the area around this hut was unburnt. It was used as a basecamp by the firefighters. Not much further south again however is far more destruction from a much larger fire complex. So heartbreaking to see what's happening on the west coast states of the US at the moment.

Thank you! No, it's here in northern California. Shark Fin Cove, north of Santa Cruz near Davenport on the San Mateo coast.

It is! I think I've posted this one before, but here's another one of the cove, a long exposure of about 2 mins IIRC. Gives a better feeling for what the place is like. That shot through the arch does make it feel really different. The shot through the arch is done from the far left of this photo, out to the rock to the left of the shark fin.
