Dear OP, I was driving up to rehearsals this afternoon thinking about your request.

I suspect that you might be looking fr a way to find the melody whilst using a pick and keeping the rhythm going - if so - that is effectively flat-picking and what I have developed as my style.
If you would like more info and input on this - let me know and I'll try to describe my logic which I think might help you.
