Default Old Friends and Old Love – original song

I wrote this song “I Can’t Stand Still” in 2016 when several old friends had suddenly passed away. I wanted to acknowledge the loss, but also to remember the days when we were young and savoring life.

Thanks for listening and for any comments.

I enjoyed the song - the lyrics seem heartfelt and it's obviously special memories that you had to write this song. Very bittersweet, but that's life, isn't it? The melody captures that feeling well.

That was awesome! You remind me so much of Cat Stevens.

Thank you nazump. Expressing personal feelings in lyrics is not a strong suit for me. I'm glad it came across the way I hoped.

Thank you John. Cat Stevens is definitely a favorite. I wish my voice was as interesting as his.

Friday night bump.

So far, a total of 13 folks have clicked on the song. I'm grateful to the two members who posted comments here. I hope I can get a few more reactions before letting this thread sink.

Very nice, Mike....heartfelt and a nice remembrance for those you've lost.
Best wishes,
Fred

The thread is still alive :-)

Nice song and nice sentiment - expressed in an upbeat and positive manner.

Decent recording too!

Thank you Wrighty

It's nice to get compliments on my lyrics - not what I have ever considered the strong suit in my songwriting

I was actually thinking that comments would focus on chords and melody - shared territory in an acoustic guitar forum.

I'm particularly happy with the spare chord inversions and simple finger picking I used in this song - instead of sticking with standard chord forms.

Again, thanks for listening. I'll post another song in a few weeks.
