I love the Schoenberg, Bruce. Just beautiful lines throughout. The bridge is a thing of beauty on its own.
I was just thinking, “It’s time for a Bruce update.” Glad you’ve been able to get some work in!

I am having a pleasant fall, with a meaningful “Indian Summer”, and it looks like a week of rain coming up right when we’d traditionally expect it. The shop humidity is down to where working is an option. Can’t complain.

Yesterday I delivered my latest Schoenberg to Eric’s shop. That’s an Italian Spruce topped Myrtle single 0 cutaway, and I couldn’t be happier with how it is at one week old. He also has a couple of my earlier guitars there for sale, notably the AGF dread and my all-Myrtle 00 Couch Noodler, both “new”, as well as an older BRW single 0 that got traded back to me in stellar condition. Eric’s shop is unquestionably one of the best hole in the wall guitar shops in the world, and if you are in San Francisco it is a short ferry ride to Tiburon and a 3 block walk from the terminal.

Glad you got down to see Eric. Sounds like a nice trip! I have no doubt that myrtle O isn't going to last long.

A local luthier called me yesterday with some mahogany that he wanted re-sawn. I told him I'd do it for a 1/4 of the yield. The chunk turned out to be 1 1/2" x 9 3/4" x 50", so that turned out to be a total of 4 sets, if things went well. If I were to fail to get the yield I predicted, no set for me. But I did well, and here is the back from the set I scored today. The first pic was supplied in advance, and is the board. The second pic is my set, sanded. I wonder what I'll build?
He wants to sell one set and keep the other two. ![]() ![]() |

I don't do a lot of bursts, and when I do I tend to be a bit critical of them. The one pictured here is 2007, I think, and came into my shop for a set-up. As it turns out, the color is far more successful than I remembered. Go figure, and let that be a lesson to me.

Not unless someone asks, which is how that one came to be. Robin Weber asked for it.
