Default The Pre-War Martin Code has been CRACKED

I know the title of this post sounds cheeky, but this does look interesting:

First time I've ever thought about building a guitar.......

Interesting kits they have. Some might argue the statement about Madagascar being equivalent to Brazilian rosewood, but, still, it does look enticing... (I've still got my OM mold and all my clamps!)

They omit the hide glue and vintage correct fillers and lacquer. I might have to think about those parts - my glue pot got left on some years back and cooked itself...

I'd sure like to build one, but have no clue how to and I don't know if a luthier would appreciate you bringing them a kit to put together!

That is very cool stuff, but of course the sound will entirely depend on the person who puts this together. I wonder if luthiers in bigger cities will take this as opportunity to guide group building class in their shop, based on these kits. My local luthier has done that with uke kits in a half-day workshop a couple of years ago. These guitar kits would obviously take much more time.

That s interesting. I'm going to a week long build a guitar school at Wayne Henderson's in March of this year. I'll probably come back with a yo-yo!

This would be considerably more attractive if they rented out the required tools to build as a kit...

I skimmed through the instruction manual...

I'm a gearhead and a generally handy guy - this project is way outside my wheelhouse.

It'd take me many years and many, many lousily-built guitars before I could do a respectable job on this.

Well they ARE in the business of selling tools so that'll never happen.

I would feel comfortable doing SOME of it with the right tools.
But I have never been able to wrap my head around the radiusing of top and back. pretty sure mine would wind up being quite flat.

My coworker is a novice luthier. I think he's built like 4 acoustics and 4 electrics. He told me he'd put together the kit for $400.

We set out with an ambitious project—to make exact replica kits of these guitars that anyone could build.
Hahaha. C'mon now. Let me tell you about the time I stripped my BMW R75 engine. Taking stuff apart is easy, putting it together...not so much!

Anyway, I am intrigued, depending on what I can get my guitar guy to build it for me...
