Love him or hate him, Paul Reed Smith is a mover and shaker in the world of Electric Guitar. And regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with his answers he is passionate about guitar and guitar building

Here is a video where various professional guitarists all get ask PRS a variety questions
Anecdotally 4 years ago I would have not known of Paul himself or any of these individuals...... But now I do recognize a number of these folks all because of the internet

I have 2 PRS and a PRS H series 50 tube head I bought from AGF Classifieds. Robben Ford has been playing a PRS with Humbuckers. Mine sport P90s and Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbuckers.

Actually I was waiting to see how much anti-PRS reaction there was going to be.
I am a big PRS fan but I recognize that they aren't for everyone. I think it's great that what he brought to the table in 1986 made the other manufacturers up their game...
I still have way more PRS guitars than is reasonable, but nothing recent.

I've never once ever heard any hint of hate or anti PRS sentiment.

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone even suggest it so I was surprised.

Are you serious?? You've never heard them characterized as ornate, over-priced, soulless, blooze-lawyer hobbyist cover band guitars with bland pickups, a stupid headstock, and the worst Strat knock-off in history? I don't know about a faction, but this is pretty common on many other forums. Mostly from the same people who've never run a company but are quite sure how they'd do it if someone handed them one.

I never really understood the hate either. If you don’t like them, don’t buy them.

I’ve had 3 PRS guitars - one from each level (SE, S2, and Pro) and I still have the S2. I really like the neck carve and overall feel but the pickups just don’t do it for me so it doesn’t get too much play time.

Overall they are fantastic guitars though.

Oh yes big time , not so much on this forum if at all ... But as (Captain Jack) noted PRS, the man and Company, are basically the Electric guitar equivalent of Taylor and A. Powers in the Acoustic world

The internet uproar when PRS brought out the Silver Sky, one would have thought Paul himself dumped a truck load of sewage on Leo Fenders grave

Hey Kev - I have it on my YouTube Watch Later. Probably watch it this week-end. I only have one PRS, 1998 Core CE-22. Great guitar for sure but I do prefer my Gibsons.

There have been some few who said they particularly care for PRS but that is not the kind of negativity I was referring to

I am very keen on the PRS line, in fact i went in store Thursday to try out the SE/S2 and core versions of the Custom 24. Sadly stock was low, and i wasn’t happy with what was on offer (color, choice etc)

But i did end up walking out with another guitar I couldn’t say no to.

Outside of the silver sky debacle, i suspect, his personality is polarizing, more than the quality and or marketing of the guitars.

If i line up 3 people i watch often, Tommy Emmanuel, Tim Pierce and Paul Reed Smith. Paul comes across (subjectively to me) with a hint of arrogance and ego in every interview. While the likes of Tommy and Tim, seem devoid of ego, and exude humble greatness in their craft.

Still love A NICE PRS

Fun video. I'm a PRS fan, but Paul is a little cringey sometimes. I get it when people saying he's arrogant. But I don't care. They make great guitars. Pretty sure my next electric is a PRS DGT. I really don't get the hate. I'm not a Gibson fan, but I don't "hate" them and would never go around the internet bashing on them.

What's the Silver Sky "debacle?" My impression is he's sold a ton of them.
