I have a Bill Nichols truss rod cover as well. This one is the first “Excalibur”. I designed it with Bill back in ‘03 which became a regular offering of his. It contains abalone, MOP, koa and brass. I purposely left the black bottom screw and added a gold top screw to serve as the sword knob. So I agree, it’s nice to tastefully dress up any guitar a bit...no matter the cost of the guitar.

made a difference for me
I have a 114e; I tried at least 10 of the same model before selecting mine (the difference was not trivial).
then I replaced the saddle with Colosi's bone saddle, adjusted the action. Great improvement. It sounds as good as my 714 cedar top (different of course), but truly a very nice guitar. |
