Who is the chick drummer?

M Ward for me is one of the really talented singer/songwriters currently on the planet, and has an interesting finger style on both acoustic and electric guitar.

Anyway, just when I thought Meg White of White Stripes was the only female drummer around, I realized that M Ward has one as well. BTW check the guy playing the hubcap.....he is pretty good too.

Speaking of chick drummers (before Karen Carpenter of course), there was Honey Lantree of the 60s Brit group, the Honeycombs.

Part of their schtick was their female drummer.

I remember seeing them on Shindig when I was a kid, and here they are. What a lousy lip-synch job. Is she even touching the drums? Probably minimally so they could hear the playback.

Then there is the Scotswoman Evelyn Glennie, the nearly deaf "percussionist." She is way beyond just a drummer.

Yeah, Mo Tucker is great! Their music just wasn't the same when she was replaced, like on "Live at Max's Kansas City". Possibly better drumming, but the sound wasn't there. That one long, live version of "Ocean" is for me one of the best songs ever, and her drumming style is very much what gives it it's feel. Glad other people like her, too!

Saw EG with a symphony orchestra last year. She must have needed a railway car to transport all of her gear

She brought the house down with her performance. At one point she must have played steadily for 25-30 minutes (talk about aerobics!)
