You really can't go wrong with a Shure SM58. It's iconic.

For that very reason, there are imitations out there. So make sure (Shure ) to buy from a reputable dealer. There is info on the web that explains how to tell the real ones from the fakes.

Sennheiser E935 is my number 1 suggestion. On a budget, the Digital Reference DRV100 is my choice:

Leave them on the microphone stands, as they have a lot of handling noise when hand-held.
