Talking NGD: Gretsch G9531 00-Style 3 **PICS**

New guitar day here for me, this is my new Gretsch G9531 Double-0 Style 3. After seeing this in a clip of NAMM 2017 I was very curious, I tried to find more info especially a sound clip and personally input from folks who owns one. I couldnt find much of anything aside some some sound clips of a few models from the same line but not this exact one. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one the other day and I couldnt be happier. For the price the guitar has some nice features such as the inlays, tortoise headstock overlay, and rope purfling. These appointments really sets it off. Being a new guitar the tone is not quite as open but none the less the guitar is nice and responsive. The build quality is nice for this price point, I wasn't a fan of the original pickguard so I replaced it with a Greven OM tear drop.

Very nice guitar! I tried one several times at a guitar store where I take lessons and have been contemplating one in the near future. Enjoy!

Just picked one of these up... loving it so far. it's basically shaped and styled after the Gibson L-OO. I removed the crappy pick guard immediately and I have a Holter one coming. it has surprising volume, looks fantastic and is very well-built, granted it's a lam mahogany back and sides with a solid spruce top.

Congratulations On Acquiring This Beauty!

I see Guitar Center has these in a little less fancy appointments, and without a pickguard, with regular wood headstock overlay, and a Fishman pickup installed for $399. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Gretsch...4-ef6037c1be80

That's lovely, and my favourite of the Roots models. As you say there's a paucity of reviews available, but the few I have seen all sound good. Here's a demo of the three models:

I loved this guitar when I played it at GC, but be careful. Although I really liked the one I played. It was marked way down in price due to the bridge being reglued on. Read many bad reviews about the bridge lifting. I may still offer them a very lowball price for it if it’s still there next time I stop in. Just giving you a heads up.

The Greven pickguard upgrade looks like it belongs there. I might try one of these?

I had a 2005 Gretsch Rancher Jr.. Featured a solid sitka top (last year for that) and made in Japan. I gifted it to my grandson. It is an 00 size with a cutaway and round fretboard (12"). It had really good sound for $300. Highly recommended for a small budget guitar if you can take the 1 11/16" nut width.

Would love to try some blues on your model. Nice headstock veneer. Neck looks like a tasty design. Enjoy it!
