You are incorrect. The HX Effects can load IRs.

Yup, that's what I did... sold off my pedalboard and bought a helix. Absolutely NO regrets. Been running my Helix now for about a year, and it just keeps getting better with each firmware update.

Mr Schultz,

I just ordered a BGM Elevation pickup for a Martin 000-18 I recently acquired. The BGM supposedly has lower output, but higher fidelity than a K&K and needs a little preamp assistance. What is your take on counting on the HX for a decent gain boosting acoustic preamp?

No problem. The mic preamp has plenty of gain.

I just snagged a used on on eBay. Can't wait to get it and try it out!

Would the HX Effects be better than the HX Stomp for an acoustic gig if I want to transfer Tonedexter IR's to it?

From a technical feature point of view, the Stomp would be better because it has built in amps and preamps, and many acoustic players use the stereo tube pre in the line 6.

The HX effects doesn’t have those features, but is more user friendly for making changes while performing.

If I had a do over, I would probably have bought the Stomp as I do almost all of my adjustments through my computer

Thank you. I picked up an HX Stomp yesterday.

The input stage of helix has a parameter for
input inpedance. 1 mgohm is one of the choices
if you want to set it manually. It also has an
auto impedance detection choice as well.
i use the stomp with a kk and it sounds fine
on auto. I have a gib hummingbird ir that i rum
as a block at about 30% mix and it sounds
really good.

Varmonter - how did you import the IRs?
That is my current dilemma - not helped by being tech challenged!

Default EQ

I’ve mentioned this in another Helix thread, the parametric eq is fantastic. You can create a really versatile feedback suppressor with it. The Q adjustment aligned with variable cut/boost of the offending frequency can be tweaked to the point of not sucking your overall tone with. Far better than what you get on acoustic amps. If you have a serious problem with multiple frequencies just add another block, but I’d doubt you’d need more than one. Lots of eq options to play with.

I did attend a Line 6 HX / Helix seminar and told the presenter Line 6 should do more to promote this for acoustic players. Most of their marketing goes toward electric guitar amp modeling. I run all of my instruments through my Helix.

That would be incredible.

Default More Helix

Here's something else I posted on another forum, the Helix can actually work as a standalone pedal synth with no instrument plugged into it:

I used my macbook and hx edit(free download) Hx edit allows
you to adjust parameters on your laptop and
instantly save these changes on the stomp or any helix device.
heres a utube link thingy.
