I'm just getting started and don't have a board yet, but they are sitting on a sheet of OSB.

Simplifying a little.

Played a gig at Sundance with just a Venue and an A/B switch (I didn't want to wag around a ton of gear in the snow) and thought my mandolin and banjo sounded good, so I got a PZ Pre to replace the pedals for banjo and mandolin and it sounds killer.

Alas, the EQ and gain settings for the guitar are different enough that it still needs its own box.

I went through 5 in 5 years, but this one has stuck because of tone, function, and, a bonus, offers battery power. It's simple and nicely transparent.

Fishman Tonedeq-TC Electronics Flashback Delay-TC Electronics Ditto X2-Boss TC3 tuner (optional)

The only board here is the one the delay and looper are mounted on. I quit using "proper" boards a few years ago, but keep 1/4" plywood, Velcro, and rubber bumpers around for making small modular boards.

I'm just using a Zoom A3 right now, but I'm hoping to drive a reverb pedal via the effects loop of a Tonedexter later this year. I'm debating between:

Keeley Aurora
Catalinbread Talisman
Digitech Polara

I've been recording guitar a lot lately and I just love a small amount of the Vahalla plate reverb.

One for mandolin; one for guitar. I've since simplified a little more with a Tone Bone PZ Pre for mandolin and banjo.

Ah. I had v4, sold it so I could buy v7. It has better internal voltage, soft switches and is programmable to select true-bypass or not and whether the boost is independent with the EQ or not. Either way, phenomenal EQ/boost pedal.

It's a sub mixing rig. I play guitar, banjo, and mandolin (and sometimes bass). Each instrument gets a tuner (mostly for mute) then its own eq. Then into the mixer. One line out to FOH. Works great.

Does the EQ on the mixer provide enough control for some of the instruments? Just curious...

Not really. I keep it flat. I'm not super happy with the EQ on the PADI, either.

I'm making some significant changes to the board these days. This rig was built when I needed some pretty specific EQing on my guitar, but I've switched out the pickup and now all instruments run the same ones (JJBs).

Right now I've got a PZ Pre and a Venue in there, but I'm not liking the venue, so I'll A/B it with a Fire Eye + ParaEQ in the loop for the next few gigs and then maybe even try the guitar with the PZ Pre.

The black, unmarked pedal operates the Solstice mute function.

The ParaEQ is WAY better than the Venue for strictly EQ... if you don't need the tuner/mute/gain. And I like that I can bypass the EQ, you can't bypass the EQ on the Venue. So it depends on what you need.

I love using the Session as the preamp/comp and the ParaEQ as EQ/boost. Great combination!
