Bad sinuses run in the family. Every cold would turn into a sinus infection, and it happened a couple of times a winter. Coughing so bad my back would go into spasms, not fun.
Several years ago my dad mentioned he hadn't had a sinus infection since he started taking claritin (loratadine is the cheap generic version), and was getting fewer colds. I was skeptical, but it seems to work. I now take one every day, winter and summer (I'm stuffed up from allergies in the summer). If I say more I may jinx myself, winter is a long way from over The other thing I was skeptical about is zinc (lozenges or spray). But it seems to work, too. The first sign of a cold for me is a sore throat. The zinc seems to beat it back from blossoming into a full blown pheglm festival. I still get some of the other symptoms (tiredness, sneezing), but the congestion is under control.

I first thought you wrote alcohol.
Now that's a cold treatment I get behind. And then I read a little closer. |
