Did you try it against an MMV?

I did not. However; I did see it available but I wanted to stay with the nut width 44.45mm, the MMV is 43mm. My first good guitar was an AC3M Yamaha, great sound but I did not know how much I would like the wider nut better after getting a Taylor.

Have I made a BIG mistake?

I played one of those a week ago at GC. I was VERY impressed. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Just a similiar build but rosewood. I had a MMV and really liked it. But not everyone likes rosewood

Congrats. I’m working on my own Martin NGD. Exciting times.

If you really liked the guitar I would say you didn't make a mistake. Its all about what sounds good to you. I haven't play that particular Martin model. We don't have a Martin dealer in town. I do own a Martin MMV and I really like it. Enjoy those new guitars. Another really outstanding Martin guitar is the Custom D classic. I believe they are made just for musicians friend. Last time I looked they were on sale for 900 bucks. That is really a great deal for an all solid wood made in America guitar. And it even comes with a hard shell case. GC should have one if you want to play one, cause they are the same Co.

Congratulations. No other guitar matters at this point. They are a very well-respected instrument. Enjoy.

Congrats. Haven't played the Martin D Special but have played some great Sitka over Ovangkol guitars. I'm sure Martin knows how to do it right. I like the look with the toner!

I owned a Custom D Rosewood for about a year. It was a great guitar, but it wasn't best for my playing style so I traded it to a buddy. It sounds amazing in his hands, but he has a much lighter touch than I do. I think you'll really like yours. They are definitely a quality guitar and Martin through and through.
