So how do you clean the grounds out of your gold filter?
I thought the idea was saving paper too, but I knock the grounds out onto a paper towel and then compost them - so I’m still using paper with every pot of coffee. And the gold doesn’t filter as finely as paper, either. About to go back to brown/unbleached filters. |

OP Here. Thanks for playing along.
Somewhere along the line I read that a gold mesh combined with a paper filter makes a better brew because a greater amount of the micro particles are being filtered. True? I dunno’. I use unbleached brown filters. I have two coffee makers (two houses). Paper goes on the outside of one (Cuisinart) and inside on the other (Kuerig Combo). I also use 1/2 and 1/2 and brown raw sugar (though I have been known to go black, no sweetener). I don’t know anything about penguins except that they are monogamous for one season and eat fish. Cute little buggers.

I used a mesh filter for a few pots but found grounds were getting into the pot. We use the brown paper filter now.
