Default It’s Fall in the Garden State/Scarecrow Show

What a great time of year celebrating the change of season in the Garden State! Thoughts move from beach days and boat rides and day trips to the CatskillMountains to the run up of all the best holidays, ending with ringing in a new year. Location logistics, decorations, menu planing, all great fun. We need more fire wood!!

nice We gotta do the same next weekend.

I'm a bit north, Central Mass.

Friday night it got down to the mid to low 40s.

I pity da fools with pools who have yet to close them...

I was supposed to do an outside patio gig last night,

thankfully the people I worked for said "nope, inside, gonna be too cold for people to be comfortable"

they were right,, by 8:30ish it was down right chilly.

Frank, you're right, NJ has to be the Halloween capitol of the world. Ever go to Hoboken on Halloween night...?

I'd say they'd have to go some to beat Salem Mass.

rmp- yes it has been getting into the low 40’s overnight already. Definitely a chill in the air!

roberts-I don’t get over to Hoboken much these days. There is so much holiday decor and decoration , especially the farms and their Halloween festivities for the kids! In fact my granddaughter and wife are making good headway on their entry for the Halloween Scarecrow Contest at the local civic center. This is where they are so far today.

We started the outside today. We're leaving in a few minutes to get a couple of corn stalks for our mail box/fence post display. (Photos later)

Our youngest helped me take out a tree stump this morning and we moved some bushes from the front to the side of our yard as well in preparation of some home improvements later this year.

Clinton Ave in Hackensack does a nice Halloween. The whole neighborhood gets into it. People come from all over and parking is crazy, (hey its Jersey).

Aside from the fact that Lowes has had Christmas decorations up for three weeks already Barry, they still have terrific Halloween monster displays, hay bales, corn stalks available too!

To me, fall in NJ used to mean cool, dry air, good for a couple tenths and a few MPH on Friday nights at E-Town - sadly, those days are gone forever...

I always said my air cooled motorcycles ran better in the fall with that crisp cool dry air.
And you are right Steve, when the Knapp family sold Englishtown Raceway Park we lost an historic part of American drag racing. All it is now is a parking lot. What a waste.

Don’t try driving through Allentown, NJ on Halloween. It’s like Mardi Gras.

Yes Bob, the suburbs tend to go way over the top at Halloween! I’ve seen that all over the NJ towns. And Allentown has so many great farms they must have and offer wonderful Halloween attractions there!

Great photo, Frank!

It is a beautiful time of the year! It's a shame to see the summer go, but it's also great not to be so warm. And the fall can be so beautiful. Thanksgiving and Christmas are such great times of the year!

It was a beautiful day today in the Pacific Northwest, too!

Enjoy your family, Frank!

GiGi the Candy Crazed Unicorn heads out to the civic center tomorrow morning to be put on display with all the other entries at the Hillsborough Scarecrow exhibit. It was thoroughly sprayed with ScotchGuard waterproofing to last from now till Halloween!
