Default Glue question (non-guitar content)

Hi folks,

I know this isn't guitar related but maybe you guitar builders would be able to help me out.

I have a chair where the glue holding the back together gave out. I will try to reglue, but was wondering if you can suggest what kind of glue would be good for this? I don't need vintage tone

It looks like someone tried to glue 2 finished pieces together, and it also looks like a less than ideal fit. You need something gap filling, either a urethane or an epoxy, a good clamp, and a lot of luck -

Yep got to sand both surfaces clean, i would be tempted to use a urethane glue that would ever so slightly expand when drying (activated), which would capture any voids

You've got plenty of room to get in there and remove old glue and finish, if it there. Once that is done, good old titbond will do the job. If you can't get all the detritus out, I hate to beat a dead horse, but Hot Hide Glue would be a great choice.

Sand it first.

Fine Woodworking tests showed that hot hide glue does not fill gaps well and loses a lot of its strength with loose-fitting joints. Perhaps not a good choice in this particular application.
