Default Any good GarageBand set-ups out there?

I'm looking for recommendations for Mac GarageBand set ups. Does anyone have a good configuration they can recommend?

Firewire/USB Interfaces
Vocal Microphones
Instrument Microphones
Etc.

Thanks

Default hey there

This is a GREAT post. I do a little noodling with garage band and am interested in this as well.

Right now i just plug into the back of my i-mac, turn "monitoring" off and jam away. i lay down some drum tracks and put in a bass line on my edirol keyboard.

i usually pick a drum loop, then lay the rhythm guitar down, then the base line, and then i fingerpick on top of the 3 while singing.

it's made me practice a whole lot more.

I have a M-Audio Mobile Pre USB which I run a Audio Technica AT3035 Mic into. I can also run an electric into it and also direct via my 514ce with ES. I record with GB and then sometimes mix down with Logic Express. Here is a sample of the set up:

I run a pair MXL condensor mics stereo into a M-Audio Firwire 410 and then straight to the iMac g5. Having lots of fun in the process

I use a Fast Track usb device. Have recorded a couple test songs on a new IMac core duo. But I have been on GarageBand for well over a year or so, messing around with loops and making songs with the provided tracks. Sure is simple. Even sold my Boss 4 track digital. The thing I like, is some of the stuff(read-crap) I have recorded in the past have been enhanced or retooled eq/effects wise. I guess it's still crap with effects A neat thing that I was able to do was take a poorer quality cassette tape recording of my dear old Dad's country band, and enhance it with EQ and some 'verb. He is a retirement age pedal-steel guitar player and has taught me much through the years. Then I gave it back to him on a cd on Easter. He was thrilled and amazed at the technology. I'm honored giving back anything to my Dad, "the leader of the band". Oh yeah, the Fast track has RCA in's so that's how I did it.

For mics, I use the RODE ntk, an SM57, have a couple Marshalls(don't really use much)
and a Behringer mixer

Guys,

Thanks for all the great replies. Today, I just got my wife one of the new IMac's for her b-day. So I get to takeover the old one, and will be putting together a garageband set-up.

Keep those tips coming....

Hi Tim...
Spend $200 more and buy the Lexicon Lambda, Tascam US-122, or Presonus Firebox ($300).

All these come with Cubase LE which is a better software setup for Mac - more powerful, less of a RAM hog and easier to edit.

I've used GarageBand and it's really entry level.
