If my Santa Cruz were to be stolen, its replacement
cost would be $21,000.

If I had to replace my remaining violin with a new sibling it would probably cost me a similar amount (but its actual resale value is probably about what it cost new in the 80s).

I know that rocker. Sublime. Like some of George Nakashima's designs and boards. His rocker, in pedestrian woods, was about $1200, 30+ years ago. But the Maloof rocker you mention for $2700 sold at auction for $80,500 - ten years ago. At least a guitar makes noise.

Apparently you smashed all of them, as your signature does not include that model.

Yup - but as 99.99% of people here will tell you, their behinds would be just as happy on a $5.00 folding chair -

And the other .01% would tell you that happiness is overrated.

Have you paid more than $20,000 for a guitar?

I have not. But I know one or two people who have.

my friend Dave borrowed money from his Dad to buy a 1930 OM 45 for 60k. He sold it after a dozen years for $225,000.
He used that money to get a 1930 OM45 Deluxe.
He sold that and bought another OM 45.
