Default NGD Emerald Satin X30 Black Limba...

Simon, you know that I wasn't going to get much sleep last night, and I didn't. Thank you, thank you and all the folks at Emerald for producing the most wonderful guitar I have ever owned or likely will ever own.

This X30 has the deepest most resonant tone I've ever heard from a guitar. It is deep, deep, deep and then some. It's a large body but with Emerald's molded contours, it's a very comfortable guitar to play. I've said before, you don't so much hold an Emerald as you embrace or cradle it. These Emeralds are very huggable as you play them.

I know from the shipping video that Alistair prefers glossy finishes, but this satin finish paired with the Black Limba has a quiet elegance about it that I really love. I've seen several other Emeralds with Black Limba tops and amber back and sides, but the black back and sides on mine really complement the black striping on the top and the black GOTOHs. I realize that it's not everybody's pint of stout nor is the fact that I intentionally omitted any electronics from my X30. But this amazing Emerald far exceeds my expectations in terms of playability, tone, quality and appearance.

I didn't go hog wild in terms of ordering options or custom features, and that may be why this guitar turned out so wonderful. Aside the financial side where you can go pretty crazy with uncharges for various mods on an Emerald, I was only going to order a manageable three mods from the standard X30 - no electronics, Black Limba top and satin finish. As it was I kind of sweated out my choice of a top from its raw state and tried to extrapolate what the finished top would look like. Of course, at that time I didn't know that the satin finish would be possible, but thanks to Simon, it became possible. I think that should be Emerald's motto - "Order an Emerald where anything's possible."

Was the five month wait worth it? You bet...

RP,

Congratulations on your new X30. The looks and your description of the sound and playability all add up to one fine lifetime instrument.

Thanks Tony. The tone/sound is so pronounced that it sounds like it's amped and the sound hole is a speaker...

Ive been refreshing the feed today waiting to see when you got it!

Im always super excited to see customers reactions (with a tinge of nervousness). Im so glad its everything you hoped for. This was a real attention grabber at emerald, and there sure were lots of folks awaiting the final completion (some of whom are in my inbox now &#128540.

Guitars like this are always a labour of love, and as an engineer i always get an extra kick out of figuring out new things and making them work; in this case the satin finish.

Now go put it to good use! Enjoy ☺️

Simon: Thank you so very much for making this happen. For the record, it's not everything I hoped for - it far exceeds my expectations. It's one of those situations where the sum of the parts exceeds the parts. I love it...

RP, congratulations on a stunning new guitar. I’m over the moon happy for you. It must have been really tough for Simon to watch this one leave the shop.

Thanks. Hopefully they'll be doing more satin finishes. I really like it...

That finish is incredible. This is one of the nicest looking Emeralds I've ever seen, and they turn out stunners all day long. Congrats on a really beautiful instrument!

Thanks BMinor. I'm biased but also think it's pretty incredible...

Wow! That is a beauty for sure. Congrats....I ordered my X20 with no electronics, obviously I can't verify it, but from what I hear on the net and from what I read others say their X20 sounds like, I THINK mine sounds better with no electronics in it. Yeah, I know, it could just be my bias, but bottom line is that is sounds really good. Enjoy yours !!

Congrats! Glad to hear that it sounds as good as it looks!

Mine arrived today, and I’ve had a look and quick play, but it’s been busy. Gonna carve out some time this evening. Hopefully can get my ngd post up by tomorrow.
